Expensive Rockmelons

Rockmelons are expensive in Japan. In year 2008, a rockmelon price were RM45 - RM300. Usually the expensive rockmelons were sold at stores which were usually near the hospital. Those rockmelons were brought as gifts. For the Japanese, they prefer to bring an eatable gift rather than flowers.

Because of high living cost in Japan, rockmelons are also known as high class fruits because they are expensive. In Malaysia, farmers can produce rockmelon within 2-3 months but in Japan, they need at least 6 months. During that period, there is no guaranty of producing good quality of rockmelons.

I can't imagine the cost after the earth quake...
